Draw Game · Antes · Blinds · Bug · Jackpot Qualifier · 8 Players Max · aka Jacks or Better
Overview
Gardena Jackpots (aka Jacks or Better) is a five-card draw game played with a semi-wild Bug card. Two qualifiers govern the hand: you need at least a pair of Jacks to open the betting, and the winner must have three-of-a-kind or better to take the pot. If no one can open, everyone re-antes and the hand is redealt. If no one qualifies at showdown, the pot carries over — everyone re-antes and a new hand is dealt.
Watch a Sample Hand
Hero holds three Kings plus the ★ Bug. Discarding one card draws the fourth King — Four Kings wins! The Bug acts as an Ace (it can't complete a straight or flush with four Kings in hand).

The Bug
SEMI-WILD: The Bug can complete a straight or flush (including straight flush). In all other situations it acts as an Ace. It is not fully wild — it cannot substitute for any arbitrary card.
Opening & Winning Qualifiers
To open: A player must hold at least a pair of Jacks (or better) to open the first betting round. If no one can open, everyone re-antes and the cards are reshuffled for a new hand.
To win: At showdown, the winner must hold three-of-a-kind or better. If no player qualifies, everyone re-antes and a new hand is dealt — the pot grows!
This pot-carry mechanic is what creates the "Jackpots" — a large accumulated pot waiting to be won.
Betting Structure
Antes + SB + BB posted → 5 cards dealt face-down → Opening bet (must have JJ+ to open; SB acts first) → Draw (discard any number, draw replacements) → Final bet → Showdown (trips or better to win)
Strategy Tips
The Bug is most powerful when you have four to a flush or four to a straight — it completes both
If you can't open, you must check (pass) — the round continues until someone with JJ+ opens or all pass and re-ante
Drawing to trips is usually enough to win, but remember you need exactly three-of-a-kind or better — two pair doesn't qualify
With the Bug acting as an Ace, A-A-A-Bug is four aces — one of the strongest possible hands
Don't break up a sure qualifier (like three-of-a-kind) chasing a longshot straight flush draw
