SOUTHSIDE

Stud Game · Antes · Low Card Bring-In · Split Pot · 8 Players Max

Overview

Southside is 7-card stud with a unique split-pot mechanic. The high hand wins one half, and the player holding the lowest spade face-down (in their hole cards) wins the other half. Ace is HIGH — so 2♠ is the most powerful low card. Think of it as the "reverse Chicago."

Split Pot — Lowest Spade in the Hole

KEY RULE: At showdown, the player holding the lowest spade among all hole cards (h1 and h2 — the two face-down cards) wins the low half. Ace is HIGH (A♠ is the worst card; 2♠ is the best). If no player has a spade in the hole, the high winner takes the entire pot.

Dealing Order

  1. All players ante. Each player receives 2 cards face-down + 1 card face-up (the door card)
  2. Low card bring-in: player with the lowest door card (ace is high) must post the forced bring-in. Betting continues (SB leads)
  3. 4th Street: 1 upcard dealt to each player. If any player's board is paired, the optional double bet is available. Betting (SB leads)
  4. 5th Street: 1 upcard → Betting (BB leads)
  5. 6th Street: 1 upcard → Betting (BB leads)
  6. 7th Street: 1 card face-down → Final betting (BB leads) → Showdown
