Stud Game — Razz with Initial Discard · 6 Players Max
Overview
Super Razz is a Razz variant (lowest 5-card A-5 hand wins) where each player receives four cards face-down plus one face-up door card. After the bring-in bet, each active player calls or raises and simultaneously discards two of their four hole cards, then play continues like standard Razz with three more streets.
Watch a Sample Hand
Four hole cards dealt down, then two are discarded after the bring-in — then three more streets lead to the showdown.

All players post an ante. Aces are always low. Maximum 6 players.
The Deal
Initial deal: Four cards face-down + one face-up door card
Bring-In: Player with highest door card brings in (High Card Bring-In, ace is low so King is worst)
Discard Round: Each active player calls or raises, then discards exactly two of their four hole cards. Players who fold do not discard.
Streets 4–6: One card face-up each
7th Street: One card face-down
Final Hand
Best five unique (unpaired) low ranks from the remaining seven cards, using A-5 Razz rules. Aces are always low; straights and flushes do not count against the hand.
Strategy Tips
Starting with 4 hole cards gives you a major selection advantage — you see four cards before committing two to your hand
Discard your two highest-ranked cards; keep the two lowest-ranked cards that pair well with your door card
Suit doesn't matter in Razz — focus entirely on rank
The discard round reveals information: players who call quickly may already have a strong hand; those who hesitate may be weighing close decisions between their hole cards
